We recommend: Dallas Prop J for information technology

Proposition J in the 2024 Dallas bond program would allocate $5 million toward information technology.
RECOMMENDATION: Vote “For”
Dallas has a serious day-to-day data management problem that stems from the explosive growth of digital files and years of neglect. Voter approval would authorize the city to borrow $5 million for facility upgrades to the city’s Data Center, including a physical access control system, a fire alarm system and an uninterrupted power supply to increase security, reliability and efficiency. These improvements reflect only a small portion of the city’s information technology infrastructure needs, some of which are likely to be addressed in future city budgets.
